Social Responsibility in Action – FUNDACIÓN PROPAL

2 Oct

This past Wednesday, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with the Executive Director of Fundacion Propal.  This interview/meeting is part of my capstone research where I am evaluating best practices of social responsibility in Colombia’s  public an private health care sector. While this foundation is not a part of Colombia’s health care sector, it is a prime example of how large corporations are giving back to their communities in regards to health, education, and professional resources.   Below is the basic information from the foundation’s website (http://www.funpropal.org/), translated  by my tutor Paola.  I hope you enjoy!

FUNDACIÓN PROPAL

The “Fundación Propal” is a social, nonprofit company of a private character, that was born August 1991 with the purpose of contributing toward the improvement of the quality of life of  the communities that inhabit the zones of influence of Productora de Papeles S.A. PROPAL, two factories located in the “municipios” [similar to counties in the U.S] of Guachené-Norte del Cauca and Yumbo-Valle del Cauca. The diverse actions of  “Fundación Propal” seek to generate social development through the community’s participation and the permanent generation of interinstitutional alliances with governmental entities and social organizations of national, state, and local order.
